This is the most important amino acid for all uses. Body builders should take plenty to repair damaged tissue

I have found oneon.co.uk glutamine much easier to take than from higher nature where I used to buy. Oneon glutamine tastes much nicer and I think it is working better too. I'm using with psyllium and flax for bowel trouble

In More Detail

L-Glutamine Pure Pharmaceutical Grade Powder

Glutamine, the most abundant amino acid found in muscle tissue, plays an important role in building the proteins that maintain cellular health and tissue repair, throughout the body.

Intense training like resistance exercise causes damage to muscle fibres and can lead to reduced immune function as Glutamine (fuel for the immune system) levels become depleted during this type of exercise.

Supplementing a healthy diet with OneOn L-Glutamine can help to maintain and restore the bodies' glutamine levels during and after exercise, fuelling immune cells, aiding muscular growth and the prevention of muscle breakdown.

L-Glutamine: Further Information

L-Glutamine is a much-needed amino acid that is produced by the human body. It aids the body in many ways and helps to build protein and produce fuel for the cells. In addition to helping with healing wounds, it helps the immune system stay on track. L-Glutamine has also been used to help treat anxiety and depression.

Is it safe?

The L-Glutamine is produced by the body and it is safe for the body. But, with any supplement, it is wise to lean toward precaution as too much of any manufactured substance may have side effects. However, the supplements have no reported side effects. In children, a doctor should be consulted before giving L-Glutamine supplements.

What is it used for?

The benefits of L-Glutamine mean it has been used to help with anxiety, depression and moodiness, insomnia, weight loss from HIV and stomach ulcers. It may be most famous for its use in bodybuilding to help build muscle and to enhance performance.

Where is it found?

The body produces L-Glutamine naturally but increased L-Glutamine supplementation has shown to be beneficial to the body. It can be taken in the form of a vitamin supplement or in foods rich in protein.

How is it used?

L-Glutamine helps the body’s natural defences. Often L-Glutamine is given intravenously in the hospital for this reason. It helps patients fight off other infections. In addition, it helps to reduce muscle loss for patients who are confined to bed.

How Much is Too Much?

Depending on whom you ask you may find a difference in the amounts recommended. Although there isn’t a standard amount, it is recommended that someone on a bodybuilding track could use up to 17 grams daily. Remember that protein shakes and other weight loss supplements will also have L-Glutamine so keep track of the amounts that you consume daily.

L-Glutamine & Bodybuilding

Bodybuilding causes stress on the body and the body needs L-Glutamine to help combat the stress that excessive weight lifting and exercise can cause. Although the body produces this amino acid, it can't produce enough to keep up with the body’s demands during this time. When there isn’t enough L-Glutamine you many feel a decrease in stamina during your workout. That’s were L-Glutamine supplements come into play.

When the body is fighting off stress or a cold and flu, it can rob the muscles and other areas of the L-Glutamine that is being produced. In theory, a natural L-Glutamine supplement will help the body stay balanced and restore levels to where they need to be. There are many bodybuilders that will swear by L-Glutamine supplements and how they help in so many areas.

L-Glutamine and Weight Loss

In addition to its role in bodybuilding and metabolism, L-Glutamine is optimal in weight loss because it helps to reduce cravings.

Will it Work for You?

It appears that because experts are still undecided, it is up to you to decided if L-Glutamine works for you or not. That may not be the answer that you were looking for but the positive aspect to the debate is that expert don’t disagree that L-Glutamine is safe. Your body naturally produces it so adding a little more to see if you get the results that you are looking for won’t hurt.

L-Glutamine from a Natural Source

If you are amongst those that would prefer to get your amino acids from a natural source, instead of an L-Glutamine supplement, you can do so by eating lean meats, such as chicken. Beans and fish are also good sources of L-Glutamine as well as dairy products.
