In More Detail

L-Arginine AKG (Alpha Keto Glutarate) Pure Powder

Because of its involvement in the stimulation of protein synthesis and availabilty, Arginine Alpha-Ketoglutarate (AKG), a form of arginine (an amino acid) combined with alpha-ketoglutarate (a form of the amino acid glutamine), is thought to increase muscle mass and strength.

The combination of arginine and alpha-ketoglutarate in products such as OneOn Arginine AKG is thought to increase the absorption rate of arginine, resulting in increased Nitric Oxide (NO) production. NO supplements are rapidly growing in popularity, with many users reporting increased muscle size and strength, increased muscle 'pumps', vascularity, greater training intensity, and increased motivation.

Increased blood NO concentration results in increased blood flow to muscles and tissues, an increased delivery of protein, carbohydrates and anabolic hormones to the working muscles, and stimulation of protein synthesis at the muscles. Together these effects can contribute to a somewhat suprising increase in muscle growth and strength, and accelerated muscle recovery following resistance exercise.

Nitric Oxide supplement usage is continually growing due to the potenital for users to attain the aforementioned benefits. OneOn Arginine AKG is a natural, safe supplement that can be used to increase levels of NO in the body.

Where can L-Arginine Be Found?

L-Arginine can be found in a number of animal and dietary sources such as milk, ricotta cheese, chicken, bacon, yogurt, shrimp, salmon and halibut. You can get L-Arginine in a number of plant sources as well. Under the plant sources, rich sources of L-Arginine are in oatmeal, peanuts, Brazil nuts, almonds, cashews and coconuts and pumpkin or sunflower seeds. Or you can get the amino acid through over the counter health supplements.

Now that we know what L-Arginine is and where it can be found, let’s explore some of the reasons people use the popular supplement. There are claims that L-Arginine can be effective in the treatment of congestive heart failure. It helps by lowering the body’s blood pressure. It’s also used in heart transplant after care treatments. In addition, it’s used in the removal of ammonia from the body. Studies have shown potential uses in fighting diabetes because L-Arginine may stimulate the release of insulin in the body.

L-Arginine and Its Popularity

L-Arginine is often used in weight and muscle building. A strong claim made about this amino acid is that it can drastically increase energy and stamina during intense workouts. It’s has been said that the body needs L-Arginine because it’s necessary for the body’s creation of a nitrogenous organic acid which aids the body in building muscle mass.

That’s not all that this little amino acid is very popular for. Aside from building muscle mass, it is also credited with its use in erectile dysfunction. In addition to this, studies have shown that L-Arginine may be helpful to patients who suffer from Hypertension, and preeclampsia. Some have reported that when L-Arginine is used together with pain killers such as ibuprofen it has been known to help reduce the severe pain that accompany migraines more quickly than using ibuprofen alone.

Heart Health

L-Arginine supplements are said to promote heart health. It stimulates the cardiac muscles as well as the vascular function and helps to prevent the risk of blood clots. For some, L-Arginine is believed to improve blood flow to and from the heart. It stimulates the nitric oxide causing a release that dilates and enlarges the blood vessels.

Drug Interactions

When taking L-Arginine supplements be careful of drug interactions. There are drugs that should not be taken with L Arginine. Combining male enhancement drugs with L-Arginine can cause a serious interaction since both can lower blood pressure. It can cause light headedness or dizziness along with other possible side effects.

If you are taking any medication that increases blood flow such as Nitroglycerin (NitroStat, Nitro-Bid and Nitro-Dur) or medications like Isosorbide (Imdur, Isordil, Sorbitrate) these drugs may interact with L-Arginine, which increases blood flow to the heart as well. The combination could also have an adverse reaction such as light headedness and dizziness.

Be sure to always to check with your doctor to see how any medications that you are taking may interact with L-Arginine or any other supplements regardless to whether or not your condition is related to blood pressure or blood flow to the heart.
